2017 CVC Players of the Week

 

CVC PLAYER OF THE WEEK - APRIL 10, 2017
Mitchell Patterson, Thiel College

Thiel College's Mitchell Patterson closes out his freshman season as the Continental Volleyball Conference Player of the Week. Patterson, from Canonsburg, Pa., helped the Tomcats close out the regular season with three straight wins. Patterson had a match high13 kills in his team's 3-0 sweep of Hilbert, adding eight digs and four service aces. He followed with nine kills in a sweep of Cairn before ending the year on a high note with a career-high 26 kills in a five-set win over Rutgers-Newark. On the week Patterson averaged 4.8 kills per set with 54.5 total points and 16 digs in three matches.

CVC PLAYER OF THE WEEK - APRIL 3, 2017
Ricky Crumlish, Rutgers University-Newark

Battling for a postseason berth Rutgers University-Newark turned to junior outside hitter Ricky Crumlish last week, with Crumlish rising to the occasion and leading their attack. Crumlish, a junior from Tonawanda, N.Y., tallied his three of his four highest kill outputs this season in helping the Scarlet Raiders to a pair of wins, including a win over ranked Eastern Mennonite. Crumlish tallied a career-high 20 kills in a 3-1 win over Eastern Mennonite, adding five digs and four total blocks. Earlier in the week, he recorded 18 kills against Marymount and 16 against Cairn. On the week he averaged 4.5 kills per set, finishing with 54 kills in three matches. He added nine service aces, 22 digs, and 11 total blocks on the week; averaging 5.8 points per set.

 

CVC PLAYER OF THE WEEK - MARCH 27, 2017
TJ Wiechecki, Marymount University

With the season coming down to big games against big opponents, TJ Wiechecki stepped up for Marymount and powered his way to the Continental Volleyball Conference Player of the Week award for the third time this season. Wiechecki, a junior from Wilmington, Delaware, led the Saints attack against two top ten ranked opponents last week, averaging 5.1 kills per set. He tallied a career-high 31 kills in a 3-2 upset win over #8 Eastern Mennonite, adding nine total blocks. He followed with 20 kills in a five-set loss to #4 Vassar, when he added 11 digs. On the week he finished with 51 kills, 20 digs, and 11 total blocks; averaging 5.8 points per set.

CVC PLAYER OF THE WEEK - MARCH 20, 2017
William Ragland, Eastern Mennonite University

Eastern Mennonite's William Ragland nabs his second Continental Volleyball Conference Player of the Week award this season after helping the Royals go 3-0 last week. Ragland, an outside hitter from North Chesterfield, Va., paced the Royals attack by averaging 3.6 kills per set last week while hitting .373 in the three matches. Ragland totaled a weekly high of 18 kills in a win over #15 ranked Juniata, adding six service aces and eight digs. He also reached double figures in kills in a 3-0 sweep of Thiel, hitting .476 for the match. On the week Ragland finished with 36 kills, 18 digs, and 11 service aces in 10 total sets; averaging 4.9 points per set.
CVC PLAYER OF THE WEEK - MARCH 13, 2017
TJ Wiechecki, Marymount University

TJ Wiechecki brought his best game going against some of the best in the country. Facing three ranked opponents Wiechecki, a junior right side hitter, totaled 72 kills over three matches highlighted by the top two performances in his career. Wiechecki put down set a career high with 29 kills against #5 Vassar, adding 11 digs and two total blocks. He followed with 13 kills in a 3-1 loss to #1 Springfield, helping Marymount take just the seventh set of a match this season off the top-ranked opponent. Wiechecki closed out his week by setting a new career high with 30 kills against #12 ranked Lasell, hitting .523 in the match. On the week he averaged 5.1 kills per set, hitting .379 while averaging 1.43 digs per set and finishing with 75.5 points over three matches.

CVC PLAYER OF THE WEEK - MARCH 6, 2017
Erich Bratke, Marymount University

Erich Bratke, a junior setter for Marymount University, is the Continental Volleyball Conference Player of the Week after helping the Saints to a pair of wins over top ten opponents. Bratke, from Virginia Beach, Va., averaged 10.44 assists in the two wins including a high of 49 assists on the week. He totaled a season-high 49 assists in his team's 3-1 win over #9 Eastern Mennonite, adding six digs. Bratke helped the Saints hit .358 in the match, nearly 200 points better than opponents were hitting against the Royals coming into the match. He followed that performance with 45 assists in a 3-2 win over #5 NYU, finishing with 10 digs as the Saints hit .273 as a team.

CVC PLAYER OF THE WEEK - FEBRUARY 27, 2017
William Ragland, Eastern Mennonite University

William Ragland, an outside hitter for Eastern Mennonite University, is the Continental Volleyball Conference Player of the Week; powering his way to the award and helping the #9 ranked Royals go 3-0 on the week. Ragland, a junior from North Chesterfield, Va., hit .578 over the three matches, totaling 42 kills with just five errors. He also added 1.09 digs per set and finished the week with 48.5 points. Ragland put down a high of 16 kills on the week against Rutgers-Newark, hitting .714 in the match. He also finished with 14 kills in a win over Cairn and 12 kills in a win over Bard. Ragland added four service aces and four total blocks as well.

CVC PLAYER OF THE WEEK - FEBRUARY 20, 2017
Michael Young, Juniata College

Michael Young, a freshman setter, helped set up Juniata College for a big weekend in grabbing the Continental Volleyball Conference Player of the Week award for this week. Young led the Eagles to a pair of conference wins, including a 3-1 victory over #11 ranked Marymount University. In that win Young totaled 40 assists, adding five digs and three total blocks. Young followed with 19 assists, playing in just two sets, of a 3-0 sweep of Alvernia. In that match, Juniata hit .387 as a team, the seventh time they have hit above .300 this season.

CVC PLAYER OF THE WEEK - FEBRUARY 13, 2017
Mitchell Patterson, Thiel College

Mitchell Patterson, a freshman, is the CVC Player of the Week after leading the Tomcats attack in two conference matches last week. Patterson, from Canonsburg, Pa., tallied 20 kills in helping Thiel to a 3-0 sweep of Cairn. It marked the second-most kills in Patterson's career, just one off his high. He added six digs and a block assist in the win, finishing with 20.5 points. He followed with 15 kills in a 3-1 loss to Rutgers-Newark, adding four digs and a solo block. On the week Patterson finished with 35 kills while hitting .383 and recording 36.5 points in just seven sets.

CVC PLAYER OF THE WEEK - FEBRUARY 6, 2017
Kyle Seeley, Juniata College

Kyle Seeley is the Continental Volleyball Conference Player of the Week after helping #15 ranked Juniata College pick up two wins last week. Seeley, a senior from Ellicott City, Md., recorded 17 kills over three matches last week. Seeley had a high of 11 kills in a 3-2 win over Johnson & Wales, while adding four digs and three blocks. He totaled eight kills against Nazareth and seven more in a win over Medaille. On the week Seeley averaged 2.17 kills per set, hitting .404, and finishing with six digs and seven total blocks.

CVC PLAYER OF THE WEEK - JANUARY 30, 2017
Josh Elmore, Eastern Mennonite University

Josh Elmore caps a big weekend for Eastern Mennonite University by taking home the Continental Volleyball Conference Player of the Week award. Elmore, a freshman from Chester, Va., played a large role in the Royals knocking off a pair of ranked opponents over the weekend. He recorded 10 kills and a career-high six blocks in his team's 3-2 win over #7 Nazareth. Elmore picked up a double-double in the win over #9 Vassar, finishing with a match-high 18 kills and 11 digs. In between upset wins he recorded a career-high 22 kills in a near upset of #10 ranked Kean. On the week Elmore finished with 50 kills, averaging 3.3 per set, with 22 digs and nine total blocks.

CVC PLAYER OF THE WEEK - JANUARY 23, 2017
Quinn Peterson, Juniata College

Juniata College's Quinn Peterson is this week's CVC Player of the Week. Peterson averaged 4.4 kills per set last week, totaling 50 points in three matches while helping the Eagles pick up their first win of the season. Peterson ramped up his play as the week went on, beginning with 10 kills and four digs against #3 ranked Stevens. Peterson finished with 14 kills, three aces, and five digs in helping Juniata sweep Elmira. He closed out the week with 20 kills, hitting .432, and six digs against UC Santa Cruz. On the week Peterson hit .267 and averaged 1.5 digs and 5.0 points per set.
 

CVC PLAYER OF THE WEEK - JANUARY 16, 2017
TJ Wiechecki, Marymount University

Marymount University's TJ Wiechecki is the first Continental Volleyball Conference Player of the Week for the 2017 season. Wiechecki, a junior right side hitter from Wilmington, Del., helped the Saints go 1-1 on the season's opening weekend. He totaled 31 kills in two matches last week, averaging 3.8 kills per set while hitting .311. Wiechecki totaled 18 kills in a win over Elmira and finished with 13 kills against #7 ranked Nazareth. Wiechecki also added 11 digs on the week and averaged 4.8 points per set.
