Volleyball – Guidelines for 2012 Season

Objective:

For the 2012 Season, I am asking all conference schools that are hosting a match or conference challenge weekend, to do the following with each team’s statistics.

1.    Sports Information is NOT required to provide live, in-game stats, but they ARE responsible to pack and combine  stats into one VPk file directly after the match.

2.    If hosting a tournament or crossover event, the home team is responsible for all matches that day. This includes combining the statcrew reports for both teams. Live, in- game stats are not necessary.

3.    Final scores are required to be posted to the CVC schedule and reported to conference SIDs no later than 2 hours after the final match of the day.

4.    On Challenge weekend and weekend tournaments, all files need to be reported within 24 hours. On weekday matches, files need to be turned in 2 hours after the match.

Rosters in Stat Crew software

  • The format for rosters that will be used is 'Lastname, Firstname'. That is, put the last name first, a comma, a space, then the first name. The case of the names are to be normal. For example: 'Gibboney, Brian' would be correct.
  • Nonconference opponents (non-NAC teams) may have their teams' rosters in any format.

Results and game files

  • Each institution is responsible for reporting all team results via a Stat Crew packed file.
  • The Stat Crew game file will use the following date format: 04/04/10 would be correct.
  • Each CVC school is recommended to have a two-member statistics crew for all volleyball home matches. It is strongly recommended that the three-person system be used to ensure accurate statistics (especially as this new system is put into place).
  • All statistics crews are expected to have the same level of proficiency we would expect in any other sport.
  • SID offices should utilize the statistics training aids (manuals/video, etc.) available from the NCAA and the AVCA.
  • For all home matches, including nonconference events hosted by a CVC institution, the host team is required to provide the Stat Crew game file and an .HTM file of the box score to the visiting team's SID, CVC SID and CVC SIDs email list within two hours of the completion of the contest. The packed game file will be sent via email.
  • For road nonconference contests, the Stat Crew packed match file will be e-mailed to CVC SID by 5 p.m. the next day. Included in the email will be the final score of the contest, and the opponent's full name.
    • If live stats are not kept, it is the CVC institution's responsibility to manually input the stats* into a Stat Crew file, and send to the NAC SID by 5 p.m. the following day.
*You are not required to enter in individual or team stats for nonconference opponents, but it is recommended as you may be audited by the NCAA statistics staff.
    • For matches between two CVC schools at a neutral site, the host SID is requested to assist in getting both neutral site teams to cooperate and produce one combined Stat Crew file to be sent to the CVC SID.
  • Match results must be reported to the PrestoSports Network, which updates standings and results on thecvc.org and the D3sports.com network of sites:

Volleyball – Guidelines Proposal for 2013 Season

Proposals that may be added for the 2013 Season

  • Each CVC school must have a mandatory minimum of a two-member statistics crew for all volleyball home matches, but it is strongly recommended that the three-person system be used instead to ensure accurate statistics (especially as this new system is put into place).
  • Live stats are not required in 2013, but is highly recommended. Host team is responsible for providing stats for all teams participating that day/night.
  • Live Stats will be voted on for the 2014 season
