
Wins by Southern Virginia University and Juniata College have set up a rematch between the two CVC teams in next weekend's 2025 NCAA Division III Men's Volleyball semifinal match. The two teams met in the CVC Championship match last weekend and have been ranked in the top five of the AVCA national poll all season long, with Southern Virginia currently ranked #2 and Juniata ranked #5.
The Juniata offense continued its torrid pace in its 3-1 win over Nichols on Saturday in its quarterfinal match. One night after hitting .417, the Eagles hit .452 against Nichols, winning 25-19, 25-22, 21-25, and 25-11.
Tyler Goldsborough led the way with 14 kills for the Eagles while Juan Armando added 13 kills and Chris Mellor finished with 10 kills. Will Sierer finished with 25 assists while Grant Lorelli added 14 assists and two block assists. With the win Juniata improves to 31-4 on the season, a new program record for wins, and will be making its second appearance in the semifinals.
Southern Virginia followed its win last night in the quarterfinals with a 3-1 win over Messiah, winning 28-30, 25-19, 25-22, and 25-18. After opening the match with 9 kills and 10 errors in the first set, the Knights' offense settled down for the come-from-behind win.
Christian Sheaffer led Southern Virginia with 12 kills while Kyler Evans also reached double digits with 11. Gehrig Tolman finished with 33 assists while Jeremy Brown had 8 digs. The Knights improve to 33-1 on the season.
Southern Virginia and Juniata will meet on Friday, April 25 in Salem, Virginia at 6:30 p.m.
