Four Named All-American

The AVCA announced its All-America teams for the 2024 season and four players from the CVC have been recognized. This year is the 21st All-America team released by the AVCA and includes a total of 28 players from 18 different schools. 

2024 AVCA ALL-AMERICA TEAMS

Luke Hoffman, a middle blocker at Juniata College, picks up his second straight All-America team. Hoffman earned Second Team honors this season after being named Honorable Mention last year. He finished with a .425 hitting percentage this season, leading the CVC, and was second in blocks per set. He helped Juniata to a second straight NCAA Tournament, advancing to the Elite Eight, and finishing with a 26-7 overall record. 

Southern Virginia had three players receive honors, tying for the most players on the All-America teams this year. Christian Sheaffer was named First Team for the second year in a row, becoming the first Knight in program history to achieve that feat. He averaged 4.43 kills per set and added 39 aces while being named the CVC Player of the Year and Tournament MVP.

Also earning First Team honors is Justin Madsen. A junior libero, Madsen recorded the fourth-most digs in a match in program history this season and currently sits third in career digs. He tallied 243 digs this season, averaging 2.61 per set.

Tyler Sheaffer, a senior setter, picked up Second Team honors after averaging 10.38 assists per set this season. He holds the program record for assists in a season and is second in career assists.
