Southern Virginia Falls to Wells

The Southern Virginia University men's volleyball team fell short 3-0 on Friday evening to Wells College in their debut in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

In game one, the Knights' (23-4) offense struggled on the attack hitting .176 while the Express (28-8) outhit the Knights 15 kills to 11 hitting at a .343 clip to give Wells the first game 25-21.

In the second set, Southern Virginia had their best game as they recorded 12 kills, hitting .333 despite dropping the game 25-23 handing the Express the 2-0 advantage.

Game three was neck-and-neck, with both teams locked up 23-23 at the end of the game.

Southern Virginia had a chance, but a pair of errors on the last two points gave Wells the game 25-23 and the match 3-0.

Nahuel Recabarren led the way for the Knights with a game-high 15 kills while Kaipo Tagaloa added 27 assists. Paul ClarkMark Stapley, and Danny Aina each recorded a team-high seven digs.

Southern Virginia concludes their historic season after winning the University's first conference championship and regular season title. The Knights 23 wins is also a program record.
