Juniata and Marymount Advance With Wins in Quarterfinals

Juniata College and Marymount University advanced in the 2019 Continental Volleyball Conference Tournament after their quarterfinal wins on Thursday night. The two teams advance to the semifinals of the tournament, which will be held on Friday at Rockbridge High School in Lexington, Va.

#4 Marymount vs. #5 Rutgers-Newark - BOX SCORE
Marymount worked their way to a 3-1 win over Rutgers-Newark in the first match of the night; winning 25-22, 22-25, 25-21, 25-18. After hitting .440 in the second set, which they would win to even the match, the Scarlet Raiders offense was unable to find success the rest of the way as they finished with a .191 hitting percentage. Meanwhile hit above .250 in all three of the final sets and finished with a .263 mark. The Scarlet Raiders were also done in by 20 service errors in the match while recording only one ace. Arvind Kumar led Rutgers-Newark with 11 kills while Marymount's Sam Safley had a match-high 13 kills.

3 Juniata vs. #6 Ramapo - BOX SCORE
Ramapo took the first set of their quarterfinal match against Juniata but saw the Eagles roll off wins in the next three sets to pick up a 3-1 victory in the final match of the night. Juniata hit above .300 in three of four sets, finishing with a .293 team hitting percentage compared to Ramapo's .130 mark. Micahel Young finished with 37 assists for Juniata as his team tallied double-digit kills in all four sets with Quinn Peterson and Joe Fick tying for the match-high with 14. Stephen Codispodo led Ramapo with 10 kills in the match while Tyler Plitt finished with 15 digs.
