The 2019 Continental Volleyball Conference Tournament is set with Juniata College, Kean University, Marymount University, Ramapo College, Rutgers University-Newark, and Southern Virginia University all qualifying for the postseason. Southern Virginia earned the right to host the tournament and will do so with all matches being played at Rockbridge County High School in Lexinton, Va. Quarterfinal matches will take place Thursday, April 11 with the semifinals being held on Friday, April 12 and the 2019 CVC Championship match on Saturday, April 13.
The first match of the tournament will be #4 Marymount and #5 Rutgers-Newark. Marymount finished the regular season 13-14 overall and 7-4 in the CVC. The Saints will be making their fifth trip to the CVC tournament. Rutgers-Newark was 15-9 overall and 7-4 in the CVC and are making their fourth tournament appearance, having won in 2015.
Juniata earned the #3 seed in the tournament and will face #6 Ramapo the second quarterfinal match. Juniata secured their 3rd seed with a 9-2 conference record, going 19-6 overall. Juniata has won a CVC best three tournament titles with their last coming in 2017. Ramapo finished 15-13 overall this season and 7-4 in the CVC. They improved their win total by seven from last year and are making their 2nd tournament appearance in program history.
Southern Virginia will face the winner of the Marymount and Rutgers-Newark match on Friday at 4 p.m. Southern Virginia, ranked #6 in the nation, went 21-3 during the 2019 season including a perfect 11-0 in conference play. The Cougars are making their first appearance in the CVC Tournament.
The winner of the Juniata and Ramapo match will advance to face #2 seed Kean on Friday at 6:30 pm.m. Kean is currently 22-5 overall and ranked #4 in the latest AVCA poll. They went 10-1 in CVC play and are the defending CVC Tournament Champions.
The CVC Championship match will take place on Saturday at 4 p.m. between the winner of the two semifinal matches.
