Five First Timers Among 2016 CVC All-Conference List

The 2016 Continental Volleyball Conference is highlighted by five first time honorees and includes Chad Albert, Cody Chidsey, Jack Fredricks, Tomasz Ksiakiewicz, Kevin McCandless, Quocmy Nguyen, Landon Shorts, TJ Wiechecki, and Rob Wingert.

Rutgers University-Newark placed four players on the All-Conference team with three repeat winners; Cody Chidsey, Kevin McCandless, and Quocmy Nguyen. Chidsey, a senior middle hitter, is making his second straight All-Conference team after leading the league in hitting percentage with a .447 mark during conference play. Chidsey totaled 99 kills and 43 total blocks during league play, finishing in the top ten in both categories. McCandless, a senior setter, is making his second straight apperance on the All-Conference team after running the powerful Scarlet Raiders offense; leading the CVC in assists with nearly 500 during conference play. His 10.86 assists per set were second most in the league. Nguyen, a senior libero, picked up his second straight All-Conference honors after recording 94 digs during conference play and ranking third in league at 2.24 digs per set. Jack Fredricks, a junior outside hitter, is making his first All-Conference team; leading the Scarlet Raiders offense in kills this season. Fredricks finished third in the conference in kills with 124, while hitting .330, and averaged 3.3 points per set.

Marymount University placed two players on this year's All-Conference team; Tomasz Ksiazkiewicz and TJ Wiechecki. The duo combined to form the top pair in the CVC with 256 combined kills. Ksiazkiewicz, a junior middle blocker, ranked 5th in the league in hitting percentage with a .418 mark and was second in total blocks with 47. Wiechecki, a sophomore opposite, is making his second straight All-Conference team after leading the league with 157 kills, reaching double digit kills in 11 conference matches this season.

Stevenson University was represented on the All-Conference team by Landon Shorts and Rob Wingert. Shorts, a freshman outside hitter, averaged 3.38 kills per set during CVC play; ranking in the top ten in the conference in kills, hitting percentage, and service aces. Wingert, a senior setter, guided the Mustangs offense to a league best .352 team hitting percentage. He averaged 11.86 assists per set, adding 1.6 digs per set.

Chad Albert, a senior middle blocker, was a leader on the court for Juniata College pacing the Eagles with a .381 hitting percentage this season, ranking 8th during conference play. Albert finished with 92 kills and 34 total blocks during CVC play and ranked seventh in service aces with 12. This is his first All-Conference award.
