GLENSIDE, Pa.- The #6 Juniata men's volleyball team won 3-0 (25-23, 32-30, 25-18) on the road at Arcadia, Saturday afternoon.
Chase Robbins had 12 kills (.421) with an ace, four digs and two blocks while Tyler Phillips tallied 10 kills (.292) with five digs and a block assist. Octavian Sperry added seven kills, an ace, three digs and three blocks. Chris Mellor had six kills (.444) and three block assists. Grant Lorelli had 32 assists, a kill, an ace, two digs and four block assists.
Set one was tightly contested throughout, with two late kills from Dante Palombo sandwiched around an Eagle attack error made it 23-21. The Knights tallied two straight kills to tie things up, before Phillips gave JC set point with a kill. Mellor and Robbins combined on a block to end set one.
The second set was a marathon, with both times fighting off several set points to get to 30-30. Robbins took over from there for the Eagles, notching two consecutive kills to end the set. Juniata hit .531 in the set, and had 20 kills.
Late in the third, maintaining an 18-16 lead, JC closed on a 7-2 run, winning the match on a Knight service error.
Juniata returns to action at Nazareth, Friday at 7:00.
