HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata men's volleyball team moved to 2-0 in Continental Volleyball Conference play with a 3-0 (26-24, 25-16, 25-16) victory over visiting Kean on Senior Day, Friday evening.
Luke Hoffman had 12 kills (.579) an ace, a block, a dig and an assist while Tyler Goldsborough totaled 12 kills (.364), two blocks and three assists. Grant Lorelli had 31 assists, five kills, three digs and an ace.
Set one was the closest, with the Cougars leading 10-15 midway through. Errors by Kean on top of kills from Goldsborough and Hoffman along with a Hoffman ace put Juniata ahead 17-16. The Cougars clawed their way to set point, 23-24 as the Eagles faced dropping the opening set. Goldsborough took over, pairing with Logan Constable on a block before smashing down two kills as JC took set one 26-24.
In set two, with the score at 13-11, an 8-1 run from the Eagles put JC in the driver's seat at 21-12. Constable eventually ended the set with a kill, 25-16.
In the third set, Juniata used an 8-1 set early and a 6-1 rally late to build a 22-14 lead. The Cougars took the next kill before Hoffman put down a kill and Goldsborough got a solo block to move the Eagles to match point. Hoffman ended things two points later, 25-16.
Juniata has a quick turnaround as they travel to take on Arcadia tomorrow at 12:00.
