KENOSHA, Wis.- The #5 Juniata men's volleyball team picked up a 3-0 (25-23, 25-19, 25-21) win over #12 Baldwin Wallace Friday evening on day two of the FrogJump Invitational.
Juan Armando had a double-double with 13 kills (.240), 14 digs and a block assist while Tyler Goldsborough totaled 20 kills (.250) an ace, an assist, three digs and a block assist. Luke Hoffman added five kills (.556), two digs, a solo block, and two block assists. Dante Palombo tallied six kills (.313), an assist, two digs and a block assist. Will Sierer had 19 assists, two aces, and a kill, while Grant Lorelli had 14 assists, a kill, a dig, and two block assists.
Set one was tightly contested, with the Eagles eventually taking a late 19-15 lead, but the Yellow Jackets took the next three points to get within one. It was within three points the rest of the set, with a Hoffman kill eventually giving the Eagles set point. Two points later, Goldsborough ended the set with a kill of his own.
In set two, the Eagles hit .304 and used a late 6-0 run to eventually take set two on an Armando kill, 25-19.
Juniata never trailed in the third set, always staying at least a point ahead. With the score at 23-21, an attack error gave the Eagles match point, and a Hoffman solo block ended the match, 25-21.
Juniata will wrap up their trip with a rematch of last year's NCAA Quarterfinal match against #3 Stevens at 12:00 on day three of the FrogJump Invitational.
