Knights Rack Up All-Conference Honors

Knights Rack Up All-Conference Honors
Following their undefeated regular season, Southern Virginia University collected numerous All-CVC honors; taking home four top individual awards and having six players earn All-Conference honors.

Christian Sheaffer becomes the first Southern Virginia player to be named the CVC Player of the Year. Sheaffer, a junior outside hitter, totaled 112 kills in his conference matches; averaging 4.15 kills per set while hitting .369. He also added 13 aces, 41 digs, and 28 blocks and ranked in the top five in the league in kills, kills per set, hitting percentage, aces, block assists, total blocks, blocks per set, points, and points per set.

Tyler Sheaffer repeats as the CVC Setter of the Year. The senior from Southern Virginia recorded 274 assists over 26 sets, averaging 10.54 assists per set in his eight conference matches. With Sheaffer running the attack, the Knight offense led the conference in team hitting percentage at .370 this season and is on pace to set a new CVC season record.

Justin Madsen, a junior at Southern Virginia, takes home the CVC Libero of the Year award. Madsen totaled 77 digs, averaging 2.57 per set this conference season. He joins former Knight Daniel Aina as the only player in program history to win the award.

This year's Rookie of the Year is Aleks Kolodziej, from Rutgers University-Newark. The freshman finished with 68 kills, 42 digs, and 19 blocks during conference play. He hit .196 in his eight CVC matches and averaged 2.27 kills and 1.40 digs per set.

Repeating as the CVC Coach of the Year is Tom Peterson. Peterson led the Knights to an undefeated CVC record for the third time in program history and is currently the top-ranked team in the nation at 26-0 overall. This is the fourth time he has won the award and he is the only coach in conference history to repeat as a winner, also accomplishing the feat in the 2019 and 2021 seasons (no award was given in the 2020 suspended season).
