CVC Places Eight on All-Region

With the announcement of the American Volleyball Coaches Association 2023 Division III All-Region teams, the Continental Volleyball Conference is represented by eight players on the East Region team. 

Juniata College and Southern Virginia University each placed three players on the team with Randolph-Macon College and Rutgers University-Newark being honored with one player each. 

Juniata was represented by Kevin Duffy III, Tyler Goldsborough, and Luke Hoffman. Duffy earns his 4th All-Region honor after hitting .453 and leading the CVC in blocks with 108. Hoffman (.442 hitting percentage and 84 blocks) and Goldsborough (261 kills and 32 aces) both pick up region honors for the first time in their careers. 

Justin Madsen, Christian Sheaffer, and Tyler Sheaffer from Southern Virginia earned honors. Madsen recorded 179 digs this season, averaging 2.63 per set while Christian Sheaffer led his team with 253 kills and Tyler Sheaffer led the Knights with 661 assists, leading the league at 9.72 assists per set. 

Ian Wagenhauser, from Randolph-Macon, was named All-Region and the East Region Newcomer of the Year. The freshman tallied a program-record 318 kills, 55 blocks, and 37 aces this season. He is the first Yellow Jacket to earn All-Region honors. 

Rutgers-Newark's Andrew Zaleck was selected All-Region for the fourth consecutive season. The senior totaled 360 kills this season, setting a new single-season program record and became the first Scarlet Raider in program history to top the 1,000 career kill mark.

2023 AVCA All-Region Teams
