Duffy and Capp Headline 2021 CVC Awards

Kevin Duffy and Ian Capp headline the 2021 Continental Volleyball Conference All-Conference awards. Joining the pair as top individual award winners are Chris Manganiello, Reese Ganter, and Tom Peterson.

Duffy, a junior, was named the 2021 CVC Player of the Year. He totaled 79 kills in eight conference matches this season: averaging 2.93 kills per set. The middle blocker hit a conference best .508 during those matches and finished with 42 total blocks, averaging 1.56 per set, which also led the CVC. Hie 107 total points this season were 2nd most in the conference. Duffy reached double digit kills five times this season, with a high of 18. He becomes the third Juniata player to take home the league's top individual award, joining Paul Kuhn (2014) and Quinn Peterson (2018).

Ian Capp, a senior, continued his strong hold on the CVC Setter of the Year award. The award was first handed out in 2018, and Capp is the only player to receive the award. Capp finished with 67 assists, 30 kills, 32 digs, and 7 blocks this spring in just four conference matches. He averaged 2.31 kills, 5.15 assists, and 2.46 digs per set. Despite his limited playing time he still managed 19 aces, which ranked second in the league while his 161 career aces are a CVC record.

The 2021 CVC Libero of the Year award goes to Chris Manganiello of Marymount University. The junior totaled 30 digs, averaging 2.14 per set this season. He had four matches with double digit digs including a high of 15 against Southern Virginia. With Manganiello roaming the back line the Saints finished second in the league in digs this season. He becomes the first Saint to receive the award.

Ganter, a setter, takes home the league's Rookie of the Year award, becoming the first Eagle to do so since 2013. Ganter stepped right into the lineup and averaged 8.41 assists per set: leading the league in total assists with 227. With Ganter running the attack, the Eagles hit .308 as a team, second best in the league. He had a high of 51 assists during the regular season and reached 30 or more assists in every conference match.

The final individual award is the CVC Coach of the Year and for the second straight season the award goes to Tom Peterson of Southern Virginia University. Peterson led the Knights to a 15-3 overall record, going 7-0 during the CVC regular season, and capturing a second consecutive CVC Tournament title. The Knights have now won 22 consecutive CVC matches, regular season and postseason, dating back to the 2018 season.
