[UPDATED] CVC COVID-19 Statement

[UPDATED] CVC COVID-19 Statement

UPDATED | MARCH 19, 2020 -- The Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC), following continued consultation with its Board of Directors, has made the difficult decision to cancel the remainder of the 2020 spring conference schedule amid the growing impact of the COVID-19 outbreak and its continued effect on decisions made on its member campuses and throughout the region. The cancellation includes all regular season CVC play as well as the conference postseason tournament.

The CVC's leadership remained in communication over the past few days following Sunday's announcement to indefinitely suspend league play. The continually evolving landscape as well as each campuses independent decisions to cancel or suspend all athletic competition contributed to the CVC's decision.

The CVC understands that this decision may be disappointing to those inside the athletic community and we empathize with our student-ahtletes, coaches, parents, and fans. However, the league and its member institutions believe that this decision is in the best interest of the safety and well-being of the CVC community at-large.

Stay tuned for further updates regarding end-of-season awards and other year-closing ventures. That includes recognition of this season's senior class.

(MARCH 15, 2020) -- The Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) has been closely monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic and its effects on operations at CVC member institutions and the multi-sport leagues in which those schools are members. In consultation with the CVC Board of the Directors, the CVC announces the following statement regarding the remainder of the 2019-20 athletic seasons:

The Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC), in consultation with its Board of Directors, announces that all regular season conference competition will be suspended indefinitely beginning Monday, March 16 in response to growing concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. It is the conference's intention to further review the status of the 2020 spring season over the next week and remain in communication as it continues to monitor the landscape and evaluate its response. Conference events scheduled while CVC competition is suspended are classified as postponed. Updates will be made when appropriate with regards to the possible continuation of the spring season as well as the postseason tournament.
