Mighty Macs Notch First Win in Program History

The Men's Volleyball team earned its first victory in program history with a 3-0 win over Lehman on Saturday afternoon from Alumnae Hall. The Mighty Macs (1-2) won the sets by the scores of 25-17, 25-13, 25-13 to earn the win.

Garrett Pepper led the way with 11 kills as Bryce Wiltbank chipped in with eight kills, four blocks, and five digs. John Carter had 13 digs while John Bohrer tallied 10 digs and had three aces in the collective team effort. 

Immaculata set the tone in the first set and jumped out to a 12-5 lead in the first set. The Mighty Macs then went on a 7-0 run which led the Macs to a 25-17 lead in the first set. Bohrer capped the first set with a kill and gave them momentum for the rest of the match.

The Mighty Macs trailed 9-7 in the second set but used a 12-2 run to build a 21-12 lead over the Lightning. Immaculata picked up 13 kills in the set and had two blocks to get the deceive two-game lead.

Immaculata put together its strongest set in the third and gave Lehman no momentum. The Mighty Macs went on to a 10-4 spurt in the early goings-on its way to a 25-13 win in the third set. Immaculata registered its highest hitting percentage in the third with a .294 hitting percentage.

Immaculata held Lehman to a negative hitting percentage in each set as they outhit the Lightning .216 - -0.47 in the match. The Mighty Macs also picked up 10 service aces and had eight total blocks.

The Mighty Macs look to keep up the momentum for conference play as it takes on Southern Virginia on Friday at 7 p.m.
