Sam Safley, Marymount University Safley, a senior from Santa Clarita, Calif., opens up the new year as the CVC Player of the Week. The outside hitter totaled 70 kills in four matches during his team's first week of play. He averaged 4.38 kills per set, hitting .305 on the week, and adding 1.25 digs per set. Safley had a high of 22 kills against Wells and finished with 79 total points on the week; an average of 4.9 per set.
