Four Named To AVCA All-America Teams

Four players from the Continental Volleyball Conference have been named to the 2018 American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III Men's Volleyball All-America Teams. Representing the conference on this year's All-America teams are Ian Capp, Quinn Peterson, Shayron Taylor, and TJ Wiechecki.

Capp, from Kean University, was named Second Team as a setter. Capp, from Mechanicsburg, Pa., totaled 982 assists, 206 digs, 88 kills, 77 aces and 52 blocks in 107 sets over 34 matches this season. He averaged 9.18 assists and 1.93 digs per set and was named the CVC Setter of the Year and the CVC Tournament MVP. 

His teammate Shayron Taylor also earned Second Team honors. Taylor, a senior middle blocker from Jersey City, N.J., tallied 218 kills, 89 blocks, 49 digs and 11 aces this season. He posted a .449 hitting percentage while putting down 2.14 kills per set. The duo becomes the 8th and 9th Cougars to earn All-American status in program history.

Quinn Peterson, a junior outside hitter at Juniata College, was named Second Team after earlier picking up CVC Player of the Year honors this year. Peterson, from Las Vegas, Nev., totaled 451 kills this year, averaging 3.99 per set. He added 32 service aces and 168 digs. Peterson is currently ranked fifth in the NCAA in kills per set with 4.04 and 10th in the NCAA in attacks per set with 8.88. 

Marymount University's TJ Wiechecki picks up his second consecutive First Team All-America selection. The senior from Wilmington, Del., was third in the CVC and sixth in the nation with 3.99 kills per set. He was also third in the conference and sixth in Division III at 4.62 points per set. Wiechecki finished his four-year career with 1,439 career kills, the most among all players in Division III this season. He averaged 3.82 kills per set over his career while totaling 516 digs, 231 total blocks, and 88 service aces.
