Nekoloff Named CVC Commissioner

Nekoloff Named CVC Commissioner

J.J. Nekoloff has been named the new commissioner of the Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC). Nekoloff will assume duties on June 1, 2018, and become the third commissioner in conference history.

"I am very excited about the future of the CVC under J.J.'s leadership," said David King, Chair of CVC Hiring Committee. "Working in the conference office of the ODAC will create a synergy that will benefit both conferences.  It will also provide him resources such as counsel, guidance, and advice. The changing landscape of men's volleyball requires experienced conference leadership, which J.J. provides for us. His leadership experiences at the conference and national levels have helped him develop the skill set necessary to bring strong leadership to a single sport conference like the CVC."

With over a decade of working experience in a collegiate conference setting, Nekoloff has risen up the ranks after starting his professional career as Sports Information Director. Nekoloff is currently wrapping up his 12th year with the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) and during his time has received promotions of Assistant Commissioner and his current role as Associate Commissioner.

Nekoloff serves as the on-site conference administrator at the ODAC volleyball and softball championships and will bring that experience and knowledge to his role with the CVC. Additional duties include scheduling, serving as a liaison with the City of Salem for championship events, and working with head coaches and various other administrative committees.

Nekoloff's leadership is evident, having served in numerous roles with the Assistant's/SID Committee of the Division III Commissioners Association (D3CA) including serving as chair and de facto member of the executive group. He continues to lead the charge in technology development, serving on the D3CA Technology Committee and is currently the chair of the NCAA Division III Social Media Committee as well as a content consultant with PrestoSports, Inc.

Nekoloff earned his Master of Business Administration from West Virginia Wesleyan College in 2005, graduating with his B.A. in Business Management from Marietta College in 2003. Prior to his position with the ODAC, Nekoloff served as the Sports Information Director at Lycoming College.

Nekoloff replaces Graeme Millar, who has served as the CVC Commissioner for the last four years and has decided to focus on his coaching duties at Stevenson University.

"Given the fluidity of the CVC over the years, as institutions and conferences begin sponsoring men's volleyball, it is important that the Commissioner has experience at the conference level," said King. "Our pattern of having institutional staff serving as Commissioner has served us very well and Graeme Millar has done a great job."
