AROUND THE CVC

At 8-4 overall this season the Crusaders have found success early for the program. But they are still searching for one mark in particular, their first conference win. Alvernia is 0-3 during CVC play but will have a chance to pick up that historic when over their next two matches including this weekend when they travel to Thiel. Alvernia did defeat Cairn earlier this season but that was in a non-conference match.
Cairn's continues their road swing this weekend when they travel to Eastern Mennonite and Marymount on back to back days. The Highlanders take on #9 Eastern Mennonite on Friday and #15 Marymount on Saturday. This follows last weekend's road trip to Rutgers-Newark and Stevenson. Cairn will be in action again at home the following weekend, March 4, when they host Stevens and Arcadia on Saturday.
The Royals moved up one spot in the latest AVCA poll to #9 after picking up two wins last week; defeating Penn State-Behrend and Thiel. Eastern Mennonite is scheduled for three matches this weekend, facing Cairn on Friday and then turning around and taking on both Rutgers-Newark and non-conference foe Bard on Saturday. The Royals have won six of their last seven matches.
Juniata is rolling right now, having won six straight and eight of their last nine matches. The Eagles will put that streak on the line this weekend with a match against defending CVC Tournament Champion Stevenson on Friday night. Juniata is hitting a remarkable .276 as a team this season and have had seven matches in which they have hit over .300 as a team including two topping the .400 mark.
After spending over two weeks away from the court the Saints returned to action last weekend with conference matches against Thiel, Juniata, and Alvernia; going 2-1 with wins over Thiel and Alvernia. The Saints will face three more conference opponents this week when they host Stevenson on Wednesday, Rutgers-Newark on Friday, and Cairn on Saturday. Marymount is currently 7-3 overall and 2-1 in the CVC.
The Scarlet Raiders are getting ready to enter a tough stretch of their schedule, facing three straight ranked opponents on the road. They begin that journey on Wednesday night against #4 ranked Stevens. Then this weekend they will return to conference action as they face #15 Marymount on Friday and #9 Eastern Mennonite on Saturday.
After a slow start to February the Stevenson Mustangs have gotten back to their winning ways in the last week. The Mustangs began the month 2-4 but have now won three straight matches including back to back conference matches over Cairn and Rutgers-Newark. The Mustangs continue with conference matches against Marymount, Juniata, and Thiel this week.
It has been a season of streaks for Thiel so far. After opening up the season with three straight losses they followed by winning their next three only to then drop into their current four match losing streak. The Tomcats will look to start a new streak, a winning one, this week when they host Penn State-Behrend, Alvernia, Stevenson, and Hilbert over the next seven days.
