Stevenson's Wingert Named CoSIDA Academic All-District

Stevenson University senior Rob Wingert, a member of the men's volleyball team, was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District At-Large teams for this season.

Wingert becomes 15th Stevenson student-athlete to be named Academic All-District. To be eligible for Academic All-America and All-District consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. 

The CoSIDA Academic All-America At-Large program consists of student-athletes from women's beach volleyball, women's bowling, women's rowing, men's and women's fencing, field hockey, men's and women's gymnastics, men's and women's ice hockey, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's rifle, men's and women's skiing, men's and women's swimming, men's and women's tennis, men's volleyball, men's and women's water polo, and men's wrestling.

Wingert, a Business Administration-Sport Management major with a 3.56 grade point average, earned AVCA Second Team All-America honors for the men's volleyball team this season as he led the Mustangs to a 26-8 record and the NCAA Division III semifinals.  The Continental Volleyball Conference Player of the Year and a First Team All-Conference selection, Wingert ranked fourth nationally in assists per set (10.77) while as a team the Mustangs hit .382, sixth-best nationally.  He also totaled 81 blocks and 49 kills on the season.  Wingert currently serves as the chair of the NCAA Division III Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), an organization that represents 180,000 Division III student-athletes in the NCAA legislative process.
