Millar Named Commissioner of CVC

Stevenson Associate Director of Athletics and head women's soccer coach Graeme Millar has been selected as the new Commissioner of the Continental Volleyball Conference, succeeding Gary Williams.

Millar is in his ninth year at Stevenson and his eighth as the head women's soccer coach. He was promoted to Associate AD prior to the 2013-14 academic year.

"I am honored and excited to have been given this opportunity to lead the Continental Volleyball Conference into a new era," said Millar. "I will look to continue the success brought to the conference by former commissioner Gary Williams and lead the schools that represent the CVC through this transition period. I would like to thank the Athletic Directors of the CVC for accepting my nomination."

As an Associate AD at Stevenson, Millar has overseen men's and women's volleyball in addition to softball and men's and women's tennis. Under his leadership, both the men's and women's programs have experience the most successful stretches in team history. The women have won back-to-back Commonwealth Conference championships while making three consecutive NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship appearances.

Meanwhile, the men's volleyball team has posted a 48-21 record over the last two seasons while winning the ECAC Division III South Championship and advancing to the CVC title game in 2013. The Mustangs also achieved their highest-ever national ranking at No. 9 in 2013.

"In it's short history, the CVC has been identified as one of the top men's volleyball conferences in Division III." said Stevenson Director of Athletics Brett Adams. "The leadership for this newly created conference was spearheaded by Gary Williams, currently head Athletic director at Wittenberg. Following that success, we are proud to promote Graeme to follow Gary's leadership. Graeme is an accomplished administrator who the CVC athletics directors are confident will lead us into the next chapter of this great men's volleyball conference."

Millar will oversee a revamped CVC that recently approved a motion to add three new schools while splitting the conference into two separate single-sport conferences. The CVC will now be comprised of former East Division members Cairn, Eastern Mennonite Juniata, Marymount (Va.), Stevenson and Thiel. These schools voted unanimously to add Rutgers-Newark as the league's seventh member effective for the 2015 season.

The West Division will start a new, single-sport conference in 2015. The newly formed conference will be comprised of former CVC members Carthage, Dominican, Fontbonne, Lakeland, Milwaukee School of Engineering, Mount St. Joseph. First-year programs Loras College and Benedictine were voted in as new members for the 2015 season.

The CVC was originally formed in 2011 and has been home to a total of 13 different Division III men's volleyball programs.
