2015 CVC All-Conference Team

A group of standout setters highlight the 2015 Continental Volleyball Conference All-Conference team. Three starting setters were named to this year's team: Matt Elias, Kevin McCandless, and David Moler; and join Joe Bortak, Cody Chidsey, Paul Kuhn, Quocmy Nguyen, Michael Whitelock, and T.J. Wiechecki on this year's All-Conference team.

Juniata's Joe Bortak becomes the first player in CVC history to earn All-Conference honors four times in his career. Bortak, a middle blocker, finished with 265 kills this season including 136 during conference action, ranking 4th in the league. He hit .480 during CVC play, the second highest hitting percentage in the league, and finished sixth in total blocks with 39. Bortak was joined on the All-Conference team by teammates Matt Elias and Paul Kuhn. Elias, a setter, is making his first appearance on the All-Conference team after earning CVC All-Tournament MVP honors in each of the last two years. Elias upped his play once reaching conference action, increasing both his assists per set and digs per set. He averaged 10.14 assists during conference action, ranking third in the CVC. Kuhn, an outside hitter, ranked in the top five in kills, hitting percentage, service aces, and solo blocks during conference play this year. He averaged 3.69 kills per set while hitting .400 with a conference high 19 service aces. He is making his third appearance on the All-Conference team.

Rutgers-Newark, competing in the CVC and the NCAA Division III level for the first time this year, was well represented, placing three players on the All-Conference team. Cody Chidsey, a middle hitter, averaged 3.59 kills per set during CVC play with a conference best .509 hitting percentage. Scarlet Raider setter Kevin McCandless compiled a conference high 520 assists this year as he led the league's second most efficient attack and an offense that averaged a conference high 13.24 kills per set. Quocmy Nguyen is the libero representative on this year's All-Conference team, finishing with 128 total digs and averaging 2.78 per set during conference play.

Stevenson's David Moler is the third setter named to the All-Conference team. Moler is making his second straight and third overall appearance on the All-Conference team. Moler finished with 399 assists, averaging 10.23 per set, the second most in the league.

Thiel's Michael Whitelock is also making his third overall appearance on the CVC All-Conference team. Whitelock averaged 2.36 kills per set during conference play and finished with the fifth best hitting percentage at a .397 clip. He also ranked second in the league in total blocks with 52 and eighth in points.

T.J. Wiechecki, a freshman outside hitter, from Marymount becomes the program's first All-Conference player. Wiechecki averaged 3.47 kills per set during conference play and ranked fourth in the league. He also finished 9th in the CVC in total points during conference action and first in points for the season overall.

The CVC All-Conference individual awards will be voted on after the CVC Tournament and announced next week. The CVC Tournament will be held this weekend, April 10-11, in Newark, N.J. with Marymount, Rutgers-Newark, Stevenson, and Thiel competing for the title.
