Six CVC Players Named AVCA All-American

Six Continental Volleyball Players have been named to the 2013 AVCA All-American teams. Joe Bortak, Sal La Cavera and Connor Wexter all earned First Team honors while Paul Kuhn, Mauro Salinas and Jon Storm were named Second Team.

Joe Bortak, a sophomore middle blocker from Juniata College, is making his second appearance on the team. Bortak recorded 279 kills this season, hitting .459 while leading the team in total blocks with 115. Bortak ranks 5th nationally in hitting percentage and is in the top 25 in blocks.

Sal La Cavera, a senior outside hitter from UC Santa Cruz, led his team in kills with 181 this year, averaging 3.77 per set. He added 94 digs and 25 total blocks. He ranks in the top 10 nationally in both kills and points per set. This is the third time La Cavera has been named to the All-America team and the second consecutive year he earned First Team honors.

Connor Wexter, a junior setter from Carthage College, is making his third appearance on the All-American team after earning First Team honors as a sophomore and Second Team honors as a freshman. Wexter is already his program's career leader in assists and finished this season with 1033, averaging 11.35 per set. He added 169 digs and 52 total blocks.

Paul Kuhn, a sophomore outside hitter from Juniata College, averaged 2.69 kills per set this season and hit .292 with a team best 31 service aces while adding 52 total blocks and 115 digs. This is Kuhn's first appearance on the All-American team.

Mauro Salinas, a senior libero from UC Santa Cruz, finished with 122 kills this season adding 118 digs. His 3.42 digs per set is best in the nation. Salinas is making his first All-American appearance.

Jon Storm, a sophomore outside hitter from Carthage College, is making his first appearance on the All-American team. Storm finished this season with 313 kills, averaging 3.53 per set and hit .308. He added 28 service aces, 40 blocks and 209 digs.
