CVC Player of the Week - April 8, 2019
Sam Safley, Marymount University

Sam Safley takes the final Continental Volleyball Conference Player of the Week award for the 2019 season. The junior outside hitter from Santa Clarita, Calif. led Marymount to a 3-2 win over Arcadia last week in the team's only match. Safley finished with 24 kills in the match, a season high. Safley recorded four service aces and two block assists in the match, totaling 29 points. He also added seven digs. 

 

CVC Player of the Week - April 1, 2019
Quinn Peterson, Juniata College

Quinn Peterson is the Continental Volleyball Conference Player of the Week for April 1, 2019. Peterson, a senior, helped Juniata College roll off three wins last week including a pair of conference victories. Peterson started the week with 23 kills in a four-set win over Penn State-Altoona, adding six digs and three block assists; totaling 26.5 points in the match. Peterson tallied two more double-digit kill matches on the weekend with identical 12 kill outings in sweeps of Marymount and Randolph-Macon. Peterson finished the week with 47 total kills, hitting .311 on the week, with 15 digs and six service aces. 

     
 

CVC Player of the Week - March 25, 2019
Nick Baxter, Elizabethtown College

For the second consecutive week and the third time this season Elizabethtown College's Nick Baxter has been chosen as the Continental Volleyball Conference Player of the Week. Baxter, a junior from Denver, Pa., led the Blue Jays to a pair of conference wins over the weekend. He totaled 29 kills in the two matches, hitting .406, and committing just three hitting errors. Baxter also added nine digs and seven total blocks to account for a 5.8 points per set average. He finished with a high of 18 kills in his team's sweep of Neumann, finishing with 22 points in the match.

     
 

CVC Player of the Week - March 18, 2019
Nick Baxter, Elizabethtown College

Nick Baxter picks up his second Continental Volleyball Conference Player of the Week award, earning the honors this week on March 18. Baxter helped the Blue Jays to a pair of wins last week; averaging 3.89 kills, 2.78 digs, and 1.11 blocks per set over three matches. He tallied 13 kills twice on the week and finished with an average of 5.3 points per set. Baxter had 13 kills and 8 digs against Ramapo, adding four blocks. He followed with 9 kills, hitting .381, with 12 digs in a conference win over Immaculata and closed out his week with 13 kills in a win over Brooklyn. He finished with 35 kills, 25 digs, and 10 blocks in just nine sets.

     
   

CVC Player of the Week - March 11, 2019
Travis Abele, Eastern Mennonite University

Travis Abele, an opposite at Eastern Mennonite University, is the Continental Volleyball Conference Player of the Week for March 11. The senior from Mechanicsville, Va. tallied 18 kills in the Royals match against Wittenberg. Abele also added 11 digs and five blocks in the match while hitting .387 and recording two assists. The 18 kills were one short of his career high while the five blocks tied a career high.

     
 

CVC Player of the Week - March 4, 2019
Ian Capp, Kean University

Ian Capp is the Continental Volleyball Conference Player of the Week for March 5, 2019. Capp, a junior setter from Mechanicsburg, Pa., helped #5 ranked Kean University to an undefeated week while etching his name into the program record books. Capp not only ran an effective Cougar offense last week from his setter position but took the attack into his own hands as well. In three matches last week he averaged 5.89 assists per set to go with 20 total kills. He hit .429 on the week and ran the Cougar attack to three matches above their season average for team hitting percentage. Capp also tallied 18 service aces on the week, setting a new program record for career aces with 174. 

     
 

CVC Player of the Week - February 25, 2019
Joe Fick, Juniata College

Joe Fick becomes the first players to repeat as Continental Volleyball Conference Player of the Week for the 2019 season. Fick, a junior from Venetia, Pa., helped Juniata College to a pair of conference wins last week. He totaled 16 kills in the two matches, hitting .424 while adding 1.67 digs per set. In addition, Fick finished with three service aces and 19 total points in the two outings. Fick had a high of 10 kills, committing just one error, in a sweep of Elizabethtown. He also finished that match with 12 total points and five digs.

     
 

CVC Player of the Week - February 18, 2019
Karmil Garbowski, Kean University

Karmil Garbowski is the CVC Player of the Week for Feb. 18, 2019. Garbowski, a middle blocker for Kean University, helped the #7 ranked Cougars win two matches last week including a victory over nationally ranked SUNY New Paltz. Garbowski started the week with 10 kills on just 13 swings, hitting .692, against NJIT. He added two aces and two blocks in the match. Garbowski then led the Cougars to a five-set victory over #8 SUNY New Paltz with a team-high 12 kills. He committed just three errors, hitting .500, and added one block assist. Garbowski played limited time in his team's sweep of New Jersey City, recording four kills and one block in two sets of action. On the week Garbowski averaged 2.6 kills and 3.0 points per set while hitting .583 and totaling two service aces and four blocks.

     
 

CVC Player of the Week - February 11, 2019
Dylan Flor, Kean University

Dylan Flor is the Continental Volleyball Conference Player of the Week for February 11, 2019. Flor, a right side hitter from Kean University, led his team to a pair of wins last week, including a victory over conference foe #15 ranked Juniata College. Flor led the Cougars in kills in both matches, putting down 16 in their win over the ranked Eagles as well as 11 in a sweep of Misericordia. Flor hit .418 in the two matches, committing just four total errors on 55 attempts. In addition to his offensive numbers, Flor also averaged 1.43 digs per set and totaled seven blocks on the week.

     
 

CVC Player of the Week - February 4, 2019
Nick Baxter, Elizabethtown College


It took only six matches for Elizabethtown's Nick Baxter to make his mark in the Continental Volleyball Conference. Baxter, a junior, broke the conference record for kills in a match with 37 in his team's win over Trine. This is the inaugural season for the program and he becomes the first Blue Jay to win the CVC Player of the Week award in program history. Baxter averaged 4.64 kills over four matches, hitting .230 while totaling 75.5 points. Baxter also reached double-digit kills against Misericordia with 12. In addition, Baxter had five service aces and 19 digs, an average of 1.36 per set, with nine total blocks on the week. 

     
   

CVC Player of the Week - January 28, 2019
Joe Fick, Juniata College

Joe Fick, from Juniata College, is the Continental Volleyball Conference Player of the Week for Jan. 28, 2019. Fick, an outside hitter, was named to the All-Tournament team after helping the Eagles to a 2-0 record; picking up wins against Daemen and Wittenberg.

The junior from Venetia, Pa., totaled 27 kills and 19 digs in the two matches, averaging 4.1 points per set. He managed eight kills and nine digs, along with two blocks, in a sweep of Daemen. Fick totaled 19 kills the next day against Wittenberg, hitting .567 in the match, and adding 10 digs. 

On the week Fick averaged 3.86 kills and 2.71 digs per set, hitting .548 while compiling 29 total points. 

     
 

CVC Player of the Week - January 21, 2019
Nahuel Recabarren, Southern Virginia University

Nahuel Recabarren, a sophomore from San Juan, Argentina, led the Knights to a 3-1 season-opening win over #15 ranked Elms. The outside hitter put down 21 kills in the four-set match to lead his #13 ranked team to the win. Recabarren hit .333 in the match and added five digs with four total blocks. The reigning CVC Newcomer of the Year totaled 23.5 points in the match, averaging 5.9 per set.
