Updated statsELMIRA, N.Y. -- Sixth-ranked Nazareth held off Stevenson Saturday in a four-set men's volleyball match at Elmira's Speidel Gymnasium. Scores were 29-27, 25-20, 23-25, 25-19.
Combined with Friday night wins over SUNY Polytchnic Institute and Wells, Nazareth completed play in Elmira's Twain Cup Tournament with a 3-0 record. The Golden Flyers improved to 17-3 overall.
Junior outside hitters
Tim Zyburt and
Grant Levermore posted 18 and 14 kills respectively to pace the Golden Flyers' offense. Zyburt added seven digs, three blocks and a pair of service aces, while Levermore had eight digs, four blocks and two aces. Junior

Brody Cord and junior
Josh Hieb each had seven kills.
Nazareth led 13-7 in the opening set before Stevenson rallied to go ahead 23-22. A kill by Cord tied the score at 23-23 and the set was tied all the way until 27. Nazareth prevailed as Levermore and Zyburt closed the set with consecutive kills. Zyburt had six of his kills in the first set.
Nazareth then hit .529 (22-4-34) to dominate the second set. Levermore had seven kills on eight swings, while Zyburt and Hieb contributed five and four kills respectively.
After Stevenson won a tight third set, Nazareth closed out the Mustangs in the fourth set with six points coming on Nazareth blocks. Senior
Luke Lawatsch was in on four blocks and Mahan three.
Freshman setter
Jake Kemp had 24 assists and eight digs and senior
Nick McDonagh had 23 assists.
Nazareth plays again Wednesday at Keuka in a non-conference match at 7 p.m.
